Oscar Scherlin (SWE)
From 13-year-old phenom to legit pro, Scherlin has been on the freestyle contest scene longer than most of his peers. The Jon Olsson protege originally scored film segments in 2005’s Teddybear Crisis and several of the Swedish-produced Free Radicals films before placing seventh at the 2007 Jon Olsson Invitational Big Air. In addition to his freestyle resume, Scherlin continues to train alpine racing, just like Jon.
For any young skier from Sweden, Jon Olsson is a tough act to follow, but if anyone has the talent and determination to do it, it’s Scherlin. He started skiing at the age of two and was racing by the time he was six. In his first year of competitive racing, the young Scherlin so impressed Olsson that he gave him a wildcard entry to his own competition, the Jon Olsson Invitation. Scherlin finished ninth against a field of the best freeskiers in the world.
